
What is the UNITY Summer Training Institute?
The UNITY Summer Training Institute is a dynamic, five-week educational experience created by the UNITY Performing Arts Foundation. Designed to transform and empower youth, this initiative blends technology, creativity, and personal development to prepare students for success in an evolving world. It offers real-world exposure, professional instruction, and a nurturing environment built on UNITY’s core values: character, artistry, and leadership.



Building the Total Person
UNITY’s mission is to cultivate the total person—mind, skill, and character. Through the Institute, students are immersed in hands-on learning and mentorship opportunities. They engage in high-level instruction, life coaching, and community involvement that sparks growth,curiosity, and confidence.
C101 – The Fundamentals of AI
Introduction to AI terminology and tools that enhance productivity and creative learning.
C102 – Video Production
Explore the full production process—from filming to editing—using professional equipment and software.
C103 – Photography
Learn the basics of digital photography, including camera handling, lighting, and creative composition.
C104 – The Fundamentals of Drama
Study core acting techniques and dramatic traditions from both European and African-American cultures.
C105 – Contemporary Keyboard Training
Develop skills in Gospel, pop, and jazz keyboard with a foundation in relevant musictheory.
C106 – Soloist Development
Strengthen vocal ability, interpretation, and stage presence through guided solo training.
Access to Professional Equipment
Through the generous support of the English-Bonter-Mitchell Foundation and the Surack Foundation, students will work with high-end equipment and software, including Apple Macs, Adobe Creative Suite, and professional-grade cameras. These tools empower students to create and perform at a professional level.
Learn. Apply. Grow.
Upon completion, students are placed in internship roles within UNITY—applying their newskills in real settings like media production, drama direction, and tech support. This reinforces learning and prepares them for future careers.

A Pipeline to Purpose
UNITY’s long-term vision is to expand the Institute into a year-round program that recruits youth from across the community. Students will grow from learners into mentors and leaders, bridging the gap between potential and purpose.
