James Hunt Biography

James Hunt is a Fort Wayne native who was actively involved in UPAF for 10 years. He joined the Voices of Unity Youth Choir at the age of 10 and has now joined the staff as a Technical/Service Assistant. As an alum, James has also rejoined the choir in the stands as a singing mentor, along with his daughter.

Since initially leaving the choir, James had been working in the industrial field for nine years before returning as a mentor and staff member. Although he found success in his industry, he knew he was not fulfilling his purpose or the pledge he made years ago as a member of the choir to “reach back to give back.” In his new capacity, James has poured himself into his work, his mentor, the students, and the organization.

“When I joined UNITY, I had no idea it would impact my life in the way that it has. I enjoyed singing and playing instruments from a young age so I expected to sing some songs, have some fun and maybe even make some new friends. What I got was so much more. I didn’t leave the organization and become a doctor or a lawyer or a successful businessman, but wherever I’ve gone and whatever I’ve done I’ve always stood out from the crowd because of the training I received at UNITY. The professionalism, the discipline, the oratory skills, the life lessons..they were ingrained in me at a young age and are very much a part of who I am today. I think often the angelic voices of the students overshadow the true essence of what we offer at UNITY. We’ve had members go on to be singers and musicians but the number one thing we create is assets. Assets to society, churches, schools, workplaces, and in the community. I am grateful to have this opportunity to be an asset now for UNITY and look forward to upholding our standard of excellence as we endeavor into the next phase of the Vision.”
