Unity Superstar Spotlight Featuring Deven Bridges

UNITY is so proud of our alumni, Deven Bridges.  Deven, whose stage name is Mickey Young, recently finished a tour with the Contemporary Music Center.  He was one of two artists that was chosen to perform two of his original songs during the tour and the crowds loved them!  On Tuesday, April 4th, a group of VOU students along with Deven’s mother, Paula and sister Cydney, took a trip to Anderson, IN to see Deven perform,  On Friday, April 7th, Mr. White traveled to Spring Arbor, MI to see Deven perform to an audience of 275 people.

Deven has been a member of Unity Performing Arts Foundation since February 2009.  He credits UNITY’s creative writing program, Expression [formerly known as P.O.P.] for starting him on his journey towards writing lyrics.  Deven has toured with the Voices of Unity to the World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China in 2010, The World Choir Games in Cincinnati, OH in 2012 and the European tour in 2016.  Deven has recited several monologues for UNITY’s Praise Celebration and End of Season Concerts and has also performed in the dance troop during the performances.

For a College project on leadership, Deven chose to do his on Marshall White, CEO/Founder of Unity Performing Arts.  This speaks to the influence that Deven feels Mr. White and UNITY have had in his life.  Deven’s mother, Paula Bridges, also gives Mr. White credit for helping to shape Deven into the young man he is today.
